Ruckus Early Music, “Ghost Opera” at Kaatsbaan Fall Pageant

Since 1990 Kaatsbaan Cultural Park in Tivoli has been a hub of artistic arts exercise, presenting internationally
famend artists within the genres of dance, theater, music, movie, literature,
spoken phrase, and the visible and culinary arts. A excessive level of its
annual programming is its Fall Pageant, which wraps this 12 months with a dance live performance by
Ruckus Early Music (September 29) and a efficiency of Tan Dan’s “Ghost Opera”
(September 30).
The New York-based Baroque band Ruckus Early Music fuses the early music motion’s questing, artistic spirit with
the grit, groove, and jangle of American roots music to create a novel sound that
the New Yorker calls “rough-edged depth.” For the group’s Kaatsbaan
live performance on the
middle’s Black Field Theater on September
29 at 7pm, they are going to be accompanied by
dance caller Sargent Seedo. Tickets are $25.
On September 30 at 7pm and October 1 at 1pm, Kaatsbaan will current pipa
grasp Wu Man and the Attacca Quartet in performances of
composer Tan Dun’s “Ghost Opera.” The opera “evokes
the spirits of Bach and Shakespeare—within the method of historic folks traditions
and conventional shamanistic Chinese language music, full with parts of paper,
water, stone, metallic, and vocals.” A brand new manufacturing of the work, it encompasses a dance
component by dancer/choreographer PeiJu Chien-Pott and is directed by Jon Reimer. The
performances will happen on the Kaatsbaan Black Field Theater. Tickets are
$45.
